My client, a leader in Nuclear Power generation, have an ongoing contract
requirement for a NDT Audit/Support Engineer at their site in Barnwood,
Gloucester.

The main accountabilities of this role are as follows:

  • Preparation, review and verification of Inspection Group NDT
    procedures and technique sheets
  • Delivery of NDT procedure familiarisation training sessions
    and on-the-job coaching
  • Delivery of on-the-job training in specialist EDF Energy NDT
    techniques such as White Metal Bearing and Thermal Fatigue
    ultrasonic testing
  • Audit surveillance of pre-inspection activities such as
    weld/component preparation, NDT personnel qualification
    and experience, inspection equipment performance and
    consumable checks
  • Audit verification via repeat inspection or witnessing of NDT
    tasks and processes
  • Review and verification of NDT inspection reports
  • Assessing NDT findings against prescribed standards or
    Materials Group Assessment Guide sheets
  • Review and assessment of inspection test restrictions and
    advice on alternative techniques
  • Review of external NDT procedures and technique sheets
    and compliance assessment of NDT by external suppliers
    at off-site locations
  • Maintenance of quality verification records and audits
    including the compilation of audit summary reports/memos
    where necessary
  • Attendance of progress and technical meetings relating to
    NDT and liaison with EDF Energy station and Central
    Technical Organisation personnel
  • Compilation, review and verification of inspection Technical
    Justifications and Capability Statements
  • Calculation and verification of ultrasonic defect sizing errors
  • Calculation of radiography detection capability

We require candidates to have the following qualifications
and experience:

  • Able to demonstrate a good working knowledge of NDT
    methods and processes
  • Minimum PCN Level 2 in applicable methods required
    for audit re-inspection
  • Hold PCN or ASNT Level 3 qualification in one or more
    NDT methods
  • 2 years experience in NDT inspections on Power Stations
    (nuclear experience preferred)
  • Hold an nationally accredited Audit qualification and have
    previous Audit experience
  • Knowledge and experience of NDT inspection qualification
    processes
  • Knowledge and experience of applying NDT codes and
    standards
  • Incorporated Engineer of an institution within the Engineering
    Council
